Broke in This Economy? That’s Ok. There’s Still Fun, Cheap Places to Go

Published by nicoleblingy at 2:44 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Balboa ParkSo, the economy has got us down. I think everyone can agree on this statement. However, there are still places to go on the cheap. Places that can become quite popular during this recession.

Therefore, it’s time to revisit the all-American past time–no, not baseball–and give it the recognition it deserves. I’m talking about parks. Balboa Park, that is. Ah, yes, parks are literally as old as time, encompassing not only a little piece of nature, but a little piece of the harboring city as well. Balboa Park is no exception. Nestled adjacent to the San Diego Zoo, the park has a little Spanish influence as well as San Diego history.
There are several museums at this park, all of which benefit local artists as well as park preservation. A little inland, there is a Japanese Garden complete with a Ramen house. And, right next to the magnificient koi pond, there is a botanical garden. The koi pond is quite beautiful and a wonderful place for photogs to practice their skills. Speaking of skill practice, the entire park is like a photog’s funhouse.
So, if you ever find yourself in the place where “happy happens,” more preferably known as San Diego, and you tire of the spitting camels and lazy gorillas at the zoo, travel a few yards to Balboa Park. Great scenery, wonderful memories…and all of it on a dime…Maybe a couple of dimes.
